Extra opening hours

posted 2 Nov 2019, 03:23 by Angie Cheshire
The 'official opening' took place on Wednesday 13 February, with Esther Hagelstein, Uffculme Parish Council Chair, doing the honours by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, reminiscing on the different locations of the library in the past, and encouraging everyone to make best use of all the services the library has to offer. 40 to 50 adults and children visited the library that afternoon, dipping into and borrowing books and checking out printing and computer services, as well as enjoying the special occasion cakes, sweets and drinks provided - several joined the library for the first time.

The extra hours have been made possible through the flexibility, encouragement and training provided by Libraries Unlimited, who run Devon Libraries; and by the hard work of Uffculme Library Friends, who have been recruiting and organising the volunteers who will be looking after the library for these two hours each week. The village is very grateful to all the volunteers who will be giving their time freely, adding to public services available in Uffculme.
